Fundraisers

The Library and Community Center are still in the works. Money has been earmarked from City funds to renovate the buildings, but we still need new shelving and furniture for both enterprises.

All donations are appreciated and are tax-deductible since both are 501(c)3 organizations.

Please see this form for giving levels. You can designate whether you want the money to be shared by both, or if it should go to one organization over the other.

FAQ.

Q: How do I get a library card?A: You must have a picture ID showing your current address or a recent utility bill in your name with current address. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign for you. If anyone in your household has overdues &/or late fees on their account, you cannot get a card until that is cleared up.Q: Can I check out videos? What about Internet or computer use?A: Seperate forms are required for these options. You may check out up to two videos per household, but only one can be a DVD. IThere is an hour limit on Internet usage. If you do not have a library card, a three-month guest pass can be obtained with a current picture ID.Q: How many books can I check out? How long do I get to keep them?A: New patrons may only check out two books at a time, until 10 have been checked out and they have maintained a clear record. After the probationary period, a patron may check out up to five. at a time They are due in two weeks. Late fee is five cents per day.Only two videos only per household (can be checked out see note above). These are checked out for one day or if checked out on Friday, they will be due back on Monday. Late fees are $1.00 per day.Up to three back issues of magazines may be checked out for three days. Late fees are 25 cents per day.Audio books are considered "books" and the same rule applies to their checkout. Late fees are 25 cents per day.Q: Do you offer any children's programming?A: Due to space restrictions, we do not currently have a regular children's reading program. However, we do have Summer Reading Program for school children from 1st to 5th grades. This year the program will begin in July. What do the Friends do, anyway?

Officially, "the Friends of the Library shall be a non-policy making and non-profit organization, the object of which shall be to promote the interest and welfare of the Pleasanton Public Library as a cultural and educational asset to the City of Pleasanton."What that means is they: Raise funds for materials, programs and extras not provided in the library's regular budget Proudly sponsor the annual Summer Readiing Program for children Solicit gifts, endowments and memorials Work to maintain good relations for the Library Stay in close contact with the business community Assist in lobbying efforts on the national, state and local levels and Work HARD, but have lots of FUN!!Meetings are every third Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. _ the Library.
