| We have a small, but
growing, collection of local history and
genealogical research materials here in the Library, including the DAR Patriot Index, Cavaliers and Pioneers and
a recent donation of back issues of Genealogical Helper
magazine. The Library also subscribes to Family Tree Magazine.
Also available is the most current issue of the San Antonio Public
Library's
genealogical department newsletter: South
Texas Researcher.
Back issues are also available online at the Library's website. If you have any local or family history that you would like to contribute to the Library, please let us know. We have some digital resources for preserving photos, newspaper articles and other personal momentoes and would be very willing to work with you to copy your materials. The Pleasanton Public Library is very fortunate to possess taped interviews with several of the County's citizens that were recorded in 1980. This was done as a school project, where students talked with senior members of the community, asking questions about their family and about the history of Atascosa County as they remembered it. For a sample of the interviews, a transcription of one with James Wesley Yow, then 97 years old, please click here. |
